About Cinnaminson

Cinnaminson, NJ is an established suburban community located directly across the Delaware River from the far Northeast sections of Philadelphia. According to the 2000 census, 14,575 people call Cinnaminson their home. Cinnaminson residents have tremendous loyalty to our community because we enjoy:

The skyline of Philadelphia can be easily seen from Cinnaminson and it is a 20-minute trip to the downtown section of the city. Yet Cinnaminson still has two active farms where many types of fruits and vegetables are grown and sold locally. A unique combination of a suburban and farm environments awaits any potential resident. One might ask, "Why such a peculiar community name?" Cinnaminson's name is a variation of a Lenni-Lenape Indian word "Senamensing" which means "sweet water". It appears this word is in reference to a group of sugar maple trees, which once grew along the Delaware River within what is now Cinnaminson. There is an extensive industrial complex within Cinnaminson, which includes glass manufacturing, manufacturing of powdered iron products as well as precision manufacturing of hard disc actuator arms. We are proud of our industrial residents and welcome additional industries to consider settling within our 7.4 square mile community. Cinnaminson is a proud and diverse community, which is an ideal location to work and live.

Cinnaminson includes with its boundaries the intersection point of Latitude 75 degrees and North Longitude 40 degrees. The intersection of these two points is on the 7th Fairway of the Riverton Golf Course, less than ½ mile from the Municipal Building. Our community is due east (five miles) from the Mayfair and Holmesburg Sections of Northeast Philadelphia. The communities of Riverton and Palmyra, N.J. as well as the Delaware River bound Cinnaminson on the west. On the North, Delran, N.J, bound Cinnaminson. On the East, Cinnaminson is bounded by Moorestown and Maple Shade, N.J.

One can see the skyline of the city of Philadelphia from Cinnaminson. Center city Philadelphia is location 12 miles from Cinnaminson. The driving distance from Cinnaminson to downtown Philadelphia is 20 minutes or less, depending on traffic. To drive to Philadelphia, one can take the Tacony-Palmyra Bridge, the Betsy Ross Bridge or the Ben Franklin Bridge.

The major highways passing through Cinnaminson is US130, which runs from Camden to New Brunswick and NJ Highway 73 which forms a portion of the southern boundary of this community.

Cinnaminson will be serviced by the Camden-to-Trenton Light Rail System, which will connect Camden, NJ to Trenton, NJ. From Trenton, one can transfer to Amtrak or NJ Transit System to go to New York City. New York City is roughly One and ½ hours from Cinnaminson.

Cinnaminson is centrally located to provide easy access to Philadelphia or New York City to work or entertain. Being that close to these two major cities makes the quality suburban living of Cinnaminson a very desirable virtue.
